Chester Half Marathon 〰️
Join us on Sunday for Church at 10:30 to worship God together through songs, prayers, preaching and the reading of scripture. The Sunday gathering is a family time where all ages are welcome. However, there are also activities to cater for children and young people. Although we would encourage you to join us in person we are still live streaming on Zoom for those who still need to connect in from their own home.
Speaker: Dave Brown

Notice of the 2023 Chester Half Marathon
Sunday 21st May 2023
About the Chester Half Marathon: From organisers:
Our multi-award-winning Chester Half Marathon attracts and inspires runners of all ages and abilities to become active, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and accomplish something they maybe didn’t think was possible. Our events provide a platform that enable people to turn compassion into action, champion and fundraise for charitable and worthwhile causes that matter to them.
From our races this year we expect to raise £1.1million for charity. We have a nominated charity for each year; this year it is Hope House Children's Hospice based in North Wales. This year we expect to raise £50,000 for our race charity. Some of this money comes directly from the race entry fee, other donations include sports massage, Green Runners, direct donations from runners, and runner sponsorships. We are looking forward to providing a platform for runners to fundraise for charity in 2023.
Our popular and successful events boost local businesses and help to showcase Chester and the surrounding villages. The event relies on individual volunteers, local charities, local community groups and other voluntary groups. Our events have a reputation for having some of the best volunteers and spectators in the UK, we simply couldn’t put these events on without their help and that’s a huge credit to the local communities for being so supportive.
The Chester Half Marathon is well recognised throughout the UK, winning multiple awards. Many runners in the area appreciate having such a fantastic event on their doorstep. This year we have been chosen by the national governing bodies of running in England and Wales to host their Master’s Age Group Championship races.
How does this affect my Church?
I can confirm that the route is unchanged from previous years. The race will start at Chester Racecourse at 09:00. The route will take runners out of the racecourse, through the city centre and Garden Quarter, before heading out to Parkgate Road via the Deva Link roundabout. Runners will run through Mollington and Saughall before returning to the city for a spectacular finish outside the Town Hall.
Delays will be likely on Sealand Road and St Martins Way between the start, however, once everyone has started, these roads will remain open throughout the event, always allowing access and egress into the city. We aim to create as small a footprint as possible to minimise disruption to residents, churches and businesses, and to work with local communities to help them to benefit from the event.
Our website includes an interactive map to advise your congregation, which you can also find here. This map will always show the most up to date road closures information. Diversions will be in place during the road closures and roads will only be closed for the minimum period necessary to ensure safety. CWaC will publish the final traffic order on their website.
We apologise for the disruption the event may cause on race day.
