More Information:
You are invited to join us this Wednesday evening 27th July to stand as Christ Central churches together with our Ukrainian friends in prayer starting at 8pm for one hour (zoom details above).
This prayer event is being hosted by the Yorkshire Christ Central region of churches, and an invite has gone out to the other Christ Central regions, who are very welcome to join us. Any church or individual is welcome! (In fact you could even invite Ukrainian refugees in your community to join you in person and zoom in together.)
During the zoom we expect some of the leaders in the Christ Central Churches in Ukraine to join us, we will be aiming not to share their names or locations for reasons of their safety, if you happen to hear or know this information, thank you for keeping this confidential.
If you would like any more information please email: andy.woodward@arkchurch.org.uk or stew@cityvalley.org
Prayer Hour Description
As there are no obvious signs that the end of the war is in sight, we will plan to host these prayer zooms once a term, as a way of encouraging us in our local and individual praying.
As you may know there are 14 Christ Central churches spread all around Ukraine. We are expecting some of the leaders of these churches to join us - we will hear an update from them, and what to pray for from their perspective. Our Ukrainian friends really appreciate us doing this, and say they are strengthened by our prayers.
As some of us are now hosting Ukrainian refugees or as churches hosting welcome meals, you may be aware of specific prayer points from Ukrainians here in the UK. We will consider how we can include these. E.g. by you typing them into the zoom chat. We will also consider how we allow space for lament as we allow the enormity of the human suffering and distress to draw us closer to the heart of the Father.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.
Psalm 22:27-28
All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, for dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations.
