Opportunities To Serve
Serving is a joyful part of following Jesus. It helps us grow in faith, build friendships and strengthen our church family. Everyone has something to offer—explore the opportunities below and join one of our wonderful teams.
Prayer Team
Our Prayer Team comes alongside people to seek God together, offering prayer, encouragement and a listening ear. They pray with people around our Sunday gatherings and remember requests throughout the week, treating what’s shared with care and confidentiality. It’s a privilege to stand with someone in a difficult season or celebrate an answer to prayer. If you have a heart for others and a growing confidence in God, we’d love to talk about whether this team could be right for you.
Worship Team
Our Worship Team helps us turn our attention to Jesus and worship him together. Through music and singing, they lead us in celebrating who God is and what he’s done, while making space to respond to the Holy Spirit. Being part of the team means preparing well, listening to one another and growing together as musicians and followers of Jesus.
We practise on Thursday evenings, 7:30–9pm, and everyone’s welcome to come along. You don’t have to play like Ed Sheeran—you just need to come ready to worship! Whether you sing, play an instrument or simply want to join us in worship, we’d love to see you.
Pastoral Team
Our Pastoral Team helps people feel supported through life’s joys and challenges. Through listening, encouragement, prayer and practical care, they help our church family look after one another and keep following Jesus. Sometimes that means celebrating good news; sometimes it means sitting with someone when life feels overwhelming. This work calls for compassion, patience, discretion and knowing when to seek further help. If you care deeply about people and can make space to listen, we’d love to talk with you.
Welcome Team
A friendly face can make all the difference when you walk into church, especially for the first time. Our Welcome Team helps people feel at home, answers questions and makes those first conversations a little easier. Whether it’s helping someone find a seat, explaining where the children’s groups meet or introducing them to someone new, small acts of kindness matter. You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room—just someone who notices others and wants them to feel welcome.
Children’s Work Team
Help our children discover who Jesus is and how much he loves them. Through Bible stories, games, crafts and prayer, our team creates space for children to ask questions, have fun and grow in faith. We want every child to feel known, included and valued as part of our church family. There are different ways to contribute, from helping with activities to sharing Bible teaching. If you’re patient, encouraging and willing to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.
Youth Team
Our Youth Team walks alongside young people as they explore faith and navigate growing up. Through Bible study, honest conversations, games and time together, they help teenagers build friendships and learn to follow Jesus for themselves. It’s about being a consistent, encouraging presence and making room for questions without expecting everyone to have the answers. You don’t need to know every trend or understand every bit of teenage slang. A willingness to listen, join in and take young people seriously goes a long way.
Young Adults Team
Our Young Adults Team helps students and those aged 18–30 find friendship, belonging and support. From sharing meals to exploring the Bible, it’s about helping one another follow Jesus through a stage of life full of change. Starting university, beginning a career or moving to a new city can bring excitement and uncertainty in equal measure. Whether you enjoy hosting, cooking, encouraging others or helping with gatherings, you could play a part in making Freedom feel like home.
Tech Team
Our Tech Team works behind the scenes to help people hear, see and take part in our gatherings, both in the building and online. Looking after sound, Lyrics and our online connection makes a real difference to how people engage with worship and teaching. It’s a practical way to serve that combines concentration, teamwork and a willingness to learn. If you enjoy technology, like solving problems or simply want to explore something new, we’d love to chat about where you could fit.
Events Team
Our Events Team brings people together for fun, friendship and opportunities to welcome the wider community. A well-planned event gives people space to relax, get to know one another and feel comfortable coming into church, perhaps for the first time. There’s plenty to do, from developing ideas and organising details to preparing the room and helping everything run smoothly. Whether you’re a natural organiser or prefer getting stuck in on the day, your contribution could help make something special happen.
Foodbank Team
Our Foodbank Team offers practical help and a warm welcome to local people struggling to put food on the table. From sorting donations and preparing food parcels to listening and treating each visitor with dignity, every task helps us love our neighbours generously. Our sessions run on Wednesdays, 11am–2pm, and Fridays, 9–11am. If you’re available during the week and enjoy practical work or connecting with people, this is a meaningful way to make a difference in our community.
